Playa Tropicana (Tres Playas): A Paradisiacal Setting in Alcocebre

At the southern end of the municipality of Alcocebre, Playa Tropicana — also known as Tres Playas — offers one of the most evocative settings on the whole Costa del Azahar. The palm trees lining the promenade, combined with the warm, crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean, create a truly tropical atmosphere that surprises even the most seasoned travellers.

  • 🏖️ Sand: Fine and light-coloured, with very shallow waters
  • 👨‍👩‍👧 Atmosphere: Family-friendly and quiet, away from the bustle of the centre

How to Get There and Where to Park

Playa Tropicana, also called Tres Playas, is at the southern end of the municipality, which shapes how you get there: it's the area where a car is most welcome. The advantage is that, being outside the town centre, parking is free all year round: the paid parking zone only regulates streets in the centre, and only during Easter and from 15 June to 30 September, from 11:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 22:00. See the parking guide.

Since 2026 there is also a circular urban bus line connecting the centre with the beaches and developments during the busiest periods; schedules and stops by season are at alcossebre.org and in the mobility guide.

When to Go

This is one of the beaches that works best outside the peak summer months: the palm-lined surroundings and the warm, shallow waters are just as enjoyable in September, when the Mediterranean still holds the heat accumulated over summer and there are far fewer people around. From October onwards, parking throughout the municipality is free again too. We cover this in Alcossebre out of season, and the actual forecast is in Weather in Alcossebre.

Nature Nearby: the Sierra de Irta

South of Tres Playas begins the Sierra de Irta Natural Park, one of the last stretches of unspoilt Mediterranean coastline, with Cala Blanca, Cala Mundina and seaside trails that reach as far as the lighthouse. Staying here lets you alternate quiet beach time with hiking without long journeys: routes in the nature guide and day plans in excursions.

Where to Stay in Tres Playas

The offer in this area is limited, so it's worth booking ahead for summer. From the local catalogue, Las Arenas is about 550 metres from Tres Playas, with a swimming pool and — something rare in Alcossebre, where only 4 of the 24 apartments have it — air conditioning.

Tres Playas is one of the municipality's three quiet areas, along with Playa Romana and the Sierra de Irta surroundings: comparison of apartments in the quiet areas and the areas guide with the real distances for each.
