One town, five areas
Alcossebre (also spelt Alcocebre or Alcoceber — all the same place) is the coastal village of the municipality of Alcalà de Xivert, in the province of Castellón, on the Costa del Azahar.
Its shoreline runs just a few kilometres end to end and breaks down into five distinct areas: the town centre with Cargador beach, Las Fuentes with the marina, Playa Romana, the Tres Playas development and the Sierra de Irta surroundings with its coves. There are no high-rises and no continuous seafront wall: stretches of open coast separate the areas, which is why each one has its own character.

Town centre and Cargador beach
This is the village proper: shops, supermarkets, a pharmacy, bars and restaurants at street level, with Cargador beach as its beach. It is the area where you need a car least.
Of the apartments managed by Casa Azahar, nine are here, and the range is wide: from beachfront buildings on the promenade (La Noria, Irta Playa) to blocks with a pool 50, 100 or 150 metres from the sea (Mare Nostrum, Parque Azahar, El Rocío) and slightly more set-back options with pool, air conditioning and parking (Los Olivos, San Benet).
Suits: anyone travelling without a car or who would rather not use it, anyone who wants to eat out without driving, and families who value having the supermarket two minutes away.
Las Fuentes and the marina
South of the centre, Las Fuentes is the area with the marina, which gives it a maritime feel and its own dining and nightlife. Its beach gives the development its name and is one of the most searched-for in the municipality.
It has the largest choice of apartments in the Casa Azahar catalogue (nine, level with the centre): beachfront next to the sea and next to the marina itself (Fontana Real, Voramar, Poblado Marinero) plus a second row with pools 180-400 metres from the sand (El Centro, Fuentemar, Meridia, Arcos, Madeira). Apartamentos Fontana Real, with a published 8.5 on Booking, is the highest-rated in the area among those with a score. It’s also home to Hotel Alcossebre and Alcossebre Sea Experience, if you’d rather have a hotel or aparthotel than an apartment.
Suits: anyone after atmosphere without being in the village core, sailing enthusiasts, and anyone who wants beachfront with services nearby.
Playa Romana
To the north, Playa Romana is a residential beach area: quieter, less traffic and a long seafront. It is the classic choice of families who come back year after year.
There are four Casa Azahar apartments here, two of them beachfront with a pool (Casa Blanca and Playa Romana Park) and two 200-250 metres back (Peñagolosa, Nova Romana). Apartamentos Playa Romana Park holds the highest score in the whole catalogue: 8.9 on Booking.
Suits: families with small children, anyone who puts calm first, and anyone happy to drive into the centre.
Tres Playas
Tres Playas is a quiet development set slightly apart from the village, geared to resting. The beach here is not literally below the balcony: Apartamentos Las Arenas, the Casa Azahar option in the area, is 550 metres from the sand, with a pool and air conditioning.
Suits: anyone who wants real quiet, arrives by car and does not mind a ten-minute walk to the sea.
Sierra de Irta and the coves
To the south the coast stops being urban and enters the Sierra de Irta Natural Park: low hills right against the sea, trails and coves such as Cala del Moro and Cala Mundina. This is the Alcossebre of hiking, snorkelling and sunsets, not of the promenade.
Accommodation here is understandably scarce: Apartamentos Marcomar, 1.3 km from Cala Mundina, with pool and parking. This is also where the area’s campsites make sense.
Suits: anyone coming to walk, dive and switch off, who accepts that a car is essential.
