Alcossebre climate: what to expect by season

Alcossebre has a coastal Mediterranean climate, very sunny (more than 2,800 hours of sunshine a year) and with moderate temperatures thanks to the influence of the sea and the shelter of the Sierra de Irta.

Summer (June–September)

Typical highs of 28–32 °C, pleasant lows of 20–23 °C and very little rain. This is the peak beach season. The sea breeze (the south-easterly «garbí») softens the heat in the afternoon.

Spring and autumn

Mild temperatures of 18–25 °C, ideal for hiking in the Sierra de Irta and cycling. Autumn can bring the heavy rain episodes typical of the Mediterranean (the «gota fría»), especially in September and October; it is worth checking AEMET warnings.

Winter

Mild winters with highs of 14–17 °C and frost very rare on the coast. The land wind (the north-westerly «mestral») can cool things down on some days.

Sea temperature and beach conditions

The sea temperature in Alcossebre ranges from around 13–14 °C in winter to 25–27 °C in August, reaching its warmest between late July and September. The beaches of Alcossebre (Las Fuentes, El Cargador, Romana, Tres Playas and the coves of the Sierra de Irta) usually have gentle waves, which makes them ideal for families.
