The TV series El Barco, from Antena 3, found a home in the Sierra de Irta in Alcocebre. During May and June 2012, the popular series El Barco, produced by Globomedia, was filmed in the Sierra de Irta natural park, located between Alcoceber and Peñíscola.

The cast is staying in Alcocebre, and some local residents have been working as extras in the series.

Fans of the series who want to watch the filming can do so in Alcoceber by looking for which of the coves in the Sierra de Irta the characters from El Barco have chosen to land on.

The coastline of the Serra d’Irta will be the first stretch of land to appear in this series, which, as is well known, is set on a ship out at sea.

Alcossebre will be the first port of call for the Estrella Polar since it began its television adventure, which, thanks to the show's huge audience, will provide great publicity for the municipality at a national level.
The Alcalà de Xivert–Alcossebre town council, together with the whole community of Alcocebre, is delighted that the production company behind El Barco filmed two episodes on the beaches of Alcossebre “it's priceless publicity”, and the economic impact for local trade is also significant, since the show's technical crew and cast are staying in hotels in Alcoceber, on top of the boost it gives to local restaurants and businesses.
.El Barco, Sierra de Irta El Barco had a launch audience of 5 million viewers. It combines elements of drama, mystery and action, with a touch of science fiction in its storylines. The show's success led to the filming of this third season and the announcement of a fourth run of the adventures of the Estrella Polar's crew.
